Wounded Saudi Prince Vows Continued Terror Fight

Hours after being wounded by a suicide bomber, a Saudi minister credited with the kingdom's aggressive anti-terrorism efforts said he was more determined than ever to fight militants in the country.

The bomber who targeted Deputy Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef blew himself up while waiting to enter a gathering of well-wishers at the minister's home in Jeddah.

It was the first assassination attempt against a member of the royal family in decades. The Saudi official news agency said the bomber was the only casualty.

The attacker was a wanted militant who had indicated he was going to turn himself in, Prince Mohammed told Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, who visited him in hospital.

"I did not want him to be searched, but he surprised me by blowing himself up.

"However, this will only increase my determination to fight terrorism," he said.
