Chavez in Moscow Reportedly To Seek Arms Deal



Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will start a two-day working visit to Russia Wdenesday, news agencies reported on Tuesday.

He will meet President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

Natalya Timakova, press-secretary of Medvedev, told reporters that the two presidents will sign an agreement on oil and gas cooperation during their meeting at the Russian presidential residence in Barvikha.

"There are plans for the conclusion of documents and agreements on oil and gas cooperation, on ecology in the oil and gas industry and also an agreement between the justice ministries," the Itar-Tass news agency quoted her as saying.

Earlier the Interfax news agency reported citing unnamed source that new arms deals may be signed during Chavez's visit.
