Canadian taxpayers will foot the bill for the Prince of Wales' flights during his tour of their country, it has been announced.
An Airbus plane will be provided by the Canadian government to transport Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, during their 11-day visit next month.
The British Government will be saving hundreds of thousands of pounds as chartering a plane for long-haul flights and internal travel within a large country like Canada could cost six figures.
But the security bill for the royal protection officers who will accompany Charles and Camilla will still be paid for by the UK.
The Prince and Duchess' return trip to North America and flights within Canada will be provided by a military plane used to transport the Canadian prime minister, a Clarence House spokesman said.
