Downing Street was involved in a heated row with the BBC over its “astonishing” questioning of Gordon Brown's health.
Andrew Marr, the BBC’s main political presenter, shocked the prime minister during a live television interview on the opening day of Labour’s annual conference in Brighton by asking whether he took pills to help him “get through".
Mr Brown’s aides last night said they were amazed that despite issuing denials to an internet rumor in recent weeks, specifically to the BBC, Mr. Marr went ahead and still asked the question.
