LIGNET: Russian Cybercrime Likely to Increase

The Russian government has proclaimed to the world that it takes cybercrime seriously and intends to crack down on the hackers inside its borders. In truth, cybercrime helps the country’s economy and by its lax enforcement of laws, Russia has shown that it would rather let it continue. After doubling in just one year, cybercrime in Russia will likely continue to increase, chiefly because such growth is in Russia’s national interest.
