Labor Strikes May Thwart Europe's Financial Recovery

The protests across Europe today that grounded flights and stopped trains and buses may be the last gasps of a labor union movement unwilling to compromise salaries and benefits to restore the continent to good health. But they shouldn’t be taken lightly, given their ability to inflict real financial pain and sway the public’s mood. If they continue, and grow larger, it may become too late for Europe to save itself.
