Unconfirmed reports that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is on life support in a Cuban hospital have thrown Venezuela into crisis. Chavez had promised he was cancer-free before winning his third presidential election on October 7. But in early December, he returned to Cuba for surgery and has not been heard from since. The January 10 presidential inauguration is fast approaching, and the opposition is demanding the government “tell the whole truth” about Chavez’s health.
