LIGNET: Speculation of ‘Insider Job’ in Algeria Changes Everything

Algeria’s prime minister said yesterday that he believes the Islamist militants who seized the gas plant at In Amenas last week were assisted by insiders who enabled access to the compound despite a sophisticated security system. He also said two Canadian Islamists were involved in the attack, and that one was the main orchestrator. The revelations alter the understanding of the attack and show that the West faces a threat in North Africa that is far more organized and insidious than was previously believed.
