KABUL — NATO says a gunman wearing an Afghan army uniform has shot and killed a service member fighting with U.S.-led coalition forces in Afghanistan.

It's the latest in a rising number of insider attacks that are fracturing the trust between NATO and Afghan forces.

U.S. Army Maj. Martyn Crighton says the service member was killed Sunday. His identity and nationality were not disclosed.

Mohammad Zarak, spokesman for the governor of Helmand province, says the shooting took place in Nad Ali district after an argument between an Afghan soldier and coalition forces.

At least 45 separate insider attacks, where members of the Afghan security forces or insurgents dressed in their uniforms turn their guns on allied and U.S. troops, have killed more than 60 NATO service members so far this year.
