TUNIS, Tunisia — A Tunisian man suspected of involvement in the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Tunis has died in prison.
A lawyer for Mohammed Bakhti said his client died Saturday morning, just 48 hours after another suspect in the attack died from a heart attack caused by a two month hunger strike.
Bakhti and Bachir al-Gholi, who died earlier, were among the 425 ultraconservative Muslims, known as Salafis, who were arrested in the wake of attacks on art galleries, cultural institutes and then on Sept. 14, the U.S. Embassy.
Security forces killed four people during the melee, when Embassy grounds were damaged and a nearby American school was burnt.
On Friday, Justice Minister Noureddine Bhiri expressed regret for al-Gholi's death and and said 225 suspects are still in custody.
